Last March 18, 2017, the stage of the Mall of Asia Arena was graced by young music ingenue Shawn Mendes. The 18-year old Canadian singer-songwriter gained fame by posting song covers on video-sharing app Vine in 2013 leading him to be signed by his current label, Island Records, the following year. It would be uncanny to know that it was also only via YouTube that he learned how to play the guitar, which has been his touring companion since.

In 2015, he released his first full-length album Handwritten, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts, making him the youngest artist to debut at number 1 since fellow Canadian Justin Bieber. In support of the album, Shawn embarked on his first solo concert tour aptly titled "Shawn Mendes World Tour" whick kicked-off at New York City's famed Radio City Music Hall. And lucky are we that Manila served as the finale for said tour wrapping up after a year.
Despite the fact that the concert was moved from its original schedule last October 26, 2016, attendance was still in full swing even with the fact that fans had to wait it out for 5 months longer. His Manila concert definitely heated up Manila's already sizzling summer as he played hit after hit. Though with a band, he was very impressive still playing every song with his guitar on. But as if that wasn't awesome enough, he did play the piano too much to the delight of his adoring fans.

So if someone ever goes "I Know What You Did Last Summer", you can definitely shriek that you saw Shawn Mendes in all his youthful glory.
Shawn Mendes Live in Manila was presented by MMI Live.
