Cebuana singer-songwriter Jolianne steps into the spotlight with the release of her debut EP, Plain Girl, under Sony Music Entertainment and Careless Music. A deeply personal and reflective project, the EP chronicles the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence and the beauty found in self-discovery.

Written between the ages of 16 and 20, Plain Girl captures the complexities of growing up—from the thrill of first love to the confusion of figuring out who you are. Through six carefully crafted tracks, Jolianne invites listeners into her world, where teenage dreams collide with the reality of adulthood.
"My life flipped entirely," Jolianne shares candidly. "I awkwardly stumbled my way through first encounters with emotions and challenges I’d never faced before. Those years were as much about growing as a person as they were about developing as an artist. It was a time of trial and error, giving myself the permission to fail and figure things out along the way. Or, as the saying goes: 'f* around, find out.'"**
The EP draws inspiration from pivotal moments in her life—graduating from high school, moving to a new city, and pursuing music full-time. Each song blends R&B-infused pop with a whimsical touch, reflecting the raw and unfiltered experiences of her formative years.
Jolianne describes the project as a "story of self-discovery," where a sheltered girl is thrust into a world filled with love, heartbreak, and independence. "Through these songs, I wanted to capture the innocence and uncertainty of taking those first steps into a bigger, more complicated world. It’s about opening her heart to love, embracing vulnerability, and navigating emotions she’s never felt before," she explains.
A Stellar Line-Up of Collaborators
Despite the EP's emotional intimacy, Plain Girl boasts an impressive roster of producers and collaborators. JGreg lends his touch to "Maybe I’m Yours" and "Afterthought," while RJ Pineda crafts the title track and "I’ll Be Somebody You Want." Other key contributors include jonahbru ("Plain Girl"), De'La ("Let Me Down Easy"), and Isagani Palabyab ("Are You Happy Now (Take One)").
"Collaborating with such a diverse group of producers was refreshing," Jolianne says. "Each brought their unique takes to the table, and it was so inspiring to dive into their creative worlds, pick their brains, and witness their process in real time."
Lead Single: "Let Me Down Easy"
At the heart of the EP is its lead single, "Let Me Down Easy"—a soulful, piano-driven ballad that showcases Jolianne's emotional depth and vocal prowess. The track captures the bittersweet reality of an unfulfilled connection and the longing for a gentle goodbye.
"At its core, it’s a plea for closure and kindness: 'If you’re gon’ let me down, then let me down easy,'" Jolianne reveals. "This, I wrote about a boy I never even dated. Even 'situationship' is too big a word for what we had. It was simply a 'situation,' but I’m a girl with big feelings, so I got a song out of it anyway."
A New Chapter Begins
With Plain Girl, Jolianne not only marks her debut but also signals the beginning of an exciting chapter in her music career. The EP is a testament to embracing the unknown and finding beauty in the messy, transformative years of young adulthood.
Jolianne’s debut EP, Plain Girl, is now available on all major streaming platforms. Fans can also catch the live performance video of "Let Me Down Easy" on her official YouTube channel at 8 PM.
In a world where self-discovery is anything but easy, Jolianne's Plain Girl is a reminder that there's power in embracing every step of the journey.
